Day 5:
Resources and abilities:
Where did they learn their abilities?
If they have an income, where does it come from?
Do they have a job? Do they like it? How do they feel about their co-workers?

Day 6:
Why do they have their resources? How long have they had them, and how have they served the character over time? (Ex. Contacts, money, political power, fame, etc.)

Day 7:
Where does your character live? Why did they choose it, and how did they acquire it? How do they handle intruders (graciously? violently?)? Describe the space.

Day 8:
What are some of your character’s more notable merits and flaws (including physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, etc.)? How did they develop? How has this helped or hindered them in the past?

Day 9:
How are they with technology?
Are they specially qualified in any particular field? Would they be considered at the top of the field?
Have they ever been publically acknowledged for anything? (Ex. Nobel Prize)
Is there anything they’ve deliberately sought to improve at?
Do they speak more than one language?

Day 10:
Relationships and history:
What is their family history like? How does it affect them? How do they feel about their family? How does their family feel about them?

Day 11:
What were they like as a child? What was their favorite toy? Favorite game? Playmates?
What did they want to be when they grew up?

Day 12:
Describe their best and worst memories from childhood.

Day 13:
Where (and when) did they grow up? How did they view it as a child, and did that change as they matured? How do they feel about the place now?

Day 14:
Do they, or have they in the past, had a mentor? What was their relationship with this person, and how has it changed since then?
What sort of education have they had? Do they want more?
Who was their idol growing up? Who was the first person they fantasized about?

Day 15:
Who is their closest friend, and why? What do they like to do with this person?
Do they have any rivals? Who and why?
Have they ever been betrayed? By who, and how did it affect them?

Day 16:
Sex and Romance:
What is their sexual orientation? Do they ever question it?
When did they lose their virginity? Who to? Where? What was it like?
What is their favorite sexual fantasy?

Day 17:
Do they have any particular fetishes or kinks?
What’s the strangest thing they’ve ever done in bed?
Is there anything in particular that they won’t do?
What are they attracted to in a partner?

Day 18:
If applicable: who is their current partner, and what attracted the character to them? How did they meet? How long have they been together? What kind of a relationship is it? Do they have any plans for the future?
What would be their perfect date?
Describe one of the character’s past relationships and what was significant about it.
Have they ever hurt someone they loved?
Do they fall in love easily?

Day 19:
Future:
What are their dreams? What do they want to do someday?
Are there places they want to go? Where and why?

Day 20:
If these don’t apply already: do they want to get married? Have kids?
Would they ever consider adopting a child? Why or why not?
Do they have any prominent sensory associations? (Ex. the smell of their mother’s perfume, the sound of ice cracking under their feet as a child, etc.)

Day 21:
Who do they want to meet?
What about them is heroic?
What would the character be like in their old age?

Day 22:
Describe one (or more) plots you would like to do.

Day 23:
Stuck in a waiting room. Which magazine do they pick up?
Morality:
What is one thing in their past they’re ashamed of? One thing they’re proud of?

Day 24:
Describe one fight they’ve had in the past (physical or otherwise).

Day 25:
What is one thing they feel strongly about?
One trait they admire?
What disturbs them?

Day 26:
Do the ends justify the means in their eyes?
Are they a leader or a follower? Why?
What do they feel responsible for? (Ex. I owe it to the world to do this.)

Day 27:
Do they believe that a person can redeem themselves from mistakes of the past?
What scares them?
How do they feel about death? Have they been significantly affected by it?

Day 28:
Do they value faith over reason or vice versa?
Do they believe in an afterlife?
Do they have any habits that reflect their beliefs? (Ex. regular prayer, vegetarianism, etc.)
Do they respect the beliefs of others?

Day 29:
Would they be more likely to act for the good of one or the good of many?
Are they manipulative?
Choose a holiday and come up with a potential scenario involving your character and that holiday.

Day 30:
Is the character religious? What are their views, and why or why not?
How would they like to die?
Choose a person, historical or fictional, and write about a meeting between them and your character.

1. What does the character look like? How often do they bathe? How do they wear their hair? Are they neat or sloppy? What colors do they tend to wear/ do they have any scars or tattoos, and if so, how did they get them?

2. Does the character have any unusual habits or physical traits? How do others tend to react to them?

3. Titles or nicknames? How did they get them?

4. What is their favorite motto or saying?

5. What kinds of clothes, jewelry, etc. do they wear when they’re not in armor or other “adventuring gear”? Do they have “a look”? Do they dress up (or down) to go out?

6. What is the character’s normal daily routine? How do they feel when it’s interrupted for whatever reason?

7. What do they wear to bed at home? While adventuring? Where do they put their weapons, magic items, etc. when they’re asleep?

8. What is their favorite food? Drink? Dessert? A particular cuisine?

9. Does the character have any mental problems? Phobias? If so, what are they? What do they stem from?

10. Why might someone dislike them?

11. What sill (non-weapon) are they most proud of?

12. What is their greatest strength? (e.g. honesty, loyalty, bravery?)

13. What is their greatest shortcoming or personal flaw? (e.g. cowardice, drinking excessively, lying?)

14. Whom do they most admire? Whom do they most love? Name the three personality traits they most admire in others, and the three that they most dislike.

15. Do they like crowds?

16. What are their hobbies (collecting, jam sessions in a bar, dining out, etc.) when they’re not adventuring or training in their class skills? What would they do if they woke up with insomnia and had to find something to do all night?

17. What is their favorite animal? Color?

18. What makes them angry? What happens when they’re angry?

19. If they could ask an all-knowing oracle one question, what would it be?

20. Rate them with these traits on a scale of 0 (they barely, or do not, possess this trait) to 10 (they have great amounts of this trait).

26. Have they ever had a pet? If so, what was it, and what happened to it?

27. What was the worst thing that ever happened to them, and how did it affect them?

28. Describe a recurring nightmare they had once.

29. What kind of relationships do they currently have? Do they have any close friends? Describe them. Bitter enemies? If so, who? What are they like?

30. Do they have a best friend (not a child or a lover) whom they’d protect with their reputation or life? Who? Why?

31. Have they had any romantic interests? If so, who, when, what? (You can leave out how.)

32. What is their most important personal possession? Not the magical item they value most but the possession that means the most. How much would they sacrifice to keep/save this possession?

33. Name the one that that they have done which makes them the most proud, and the one thing of which they are most ashamed.

34. What did the character do before they entered the story? Who trained the character to do what they do now?



Alignment, Ethics and Religion

35. What is their religion? Who is their patron deity? Are they a devout worshiper? How often do they attend services or make sacrifices?

36. What are their moral and religious beliefs? To what lengths will they go to defend those beliefs? Who or what taught those beliefs to them?

37. Do they have a moral code that they follow? If so, what is it?

38. Can they kill? (Not “kill” as in the sense of slaying evil monsters, but killing another human, possibly as a murder or manslaughter.)

39. Why would they kill? Do they have any enemies at all? Would or could they kill them?

40. How do they generally treat others? Do they trust easily, or not?

41. What are their political beliefs? (e.g. do they prefer democracy, monarchy, rule of the aristocracy, communism, anarchy, etc.?)

42. Is there any race, creed, alignment, religion, or the like against which they are strongly prejudiced? Why?

43. What, if anything, would they sacrifice their life for?

44. Are there any circumstances under which they would abandon their adventuring companions in an hour of need?

45. What does “justice” mean to them?

Motivation

46. What are their dreams? Ambitions? Goals?

47. How do they seek to obtain these goals? How does adventuring fit into this dream, or does it at all?

48. What type or person would be their ideal mate?

49. Do they ever want to have a family of their own someday? If so, with who, or what type of person? Do they want children?

50. What (if anything) would make him stop adventuring? (e.g. death of a loved one, physical mutilation, enough money to retire on, marriage, etc.?)

51. If they had to quit adventuring for some reason, what would they do?

52. What are their immediate goals? (e.g. what would they like to be doing in the coming year?)

53. What are their long-term goals? (e.g. what would they like to be doing twenty years from now?)

54. Would they consider a brief romantic fling? A one-night stand?

55. What is their greatest fear? (it can be rational or irrational)

56. Were they present during any key events in history? How did it affect them?

57. Do they have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? What did they do? What do people assume about the character when their ancestry is known? Do they actively try to live up to the reputation, try to dispel it, or try to ignore it?

58. Are they an extremely loyal member of any cause? (e.g. a loyal servant of a noble, devoted member of a guild or order, etc.?)
